Sak for Converse First String

In yet another display of exquisite craftsmanship, Ryusaku Hiruma of Sak releases his second lineup for Converse's premium label, First String. His old-world interpretations of the classic Jack Purcell and One Star 1974 speak to the enduring legacy of the brand and artistry of shoemaking. Mastering traditional Italian techniques, Hiruma has made Florence, Italy, his home for a decade.

The uppers—in timeless, natural shades of off-white and black—are hand-stitched down to the insole. Logos and finely perforated details are also rendered by hand. Like a fine dress shoe, the handsome soles are constructed of leather playfully printed with the details you'd find on a rubber sole, and the cut-out star on each lace (also leather) echoes the inimitable character of Converse.

Dropping this month, each model in the Sak for Converse collection is limited to 64 pairs, each in men's sizes 7-11. The Jack Purcell comes in off-white with a tan toe cap and will sell at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City and Canvas in California. The One Star, in black, will sell at Concepts, Converse specialty stores in Massachusetts and Blends in California. Prices are $600-$700.

adidas ObyO James Bond for David Beckham 2010 Fall/Winter Sneaker Preview

Stars War x adidas Originals 2010 Fall/Winter “R2-D2 + C-3PO” Top Ten Low

First seen in the latest adidas Originals x Star Wars footage. addidas Originals will be looking to drop the “R2-D2 + C-3PO” model in September, it works with the classic Top Ten Low model and inspired by the Trilogy’s iconic droids, C-3PO and R2-D2. The collaboration represents a series that will continue well into the 2010 Fall/Winter season.

PUMA x Kehinde Wiley 917 Lo Sacko

This Puma model has chosen to take the lo-top approach and like all other 917’s is inspired by the Porsche 917 driven by Steve McQueen in the 1971 movie “Le Mans”. Working in the same African theme as the Do-It-YourSelf Sacko ＆ Matar Slippers seen earlier, New York based painter Kehinde Wiley sees his print take on another life when applied to a pair of sneakers. CLOT x Converse (PRODUCT) RED Jack Purcell High

Following some previously seen previews, Kevin Poon pulls the covers off CLOT’s latest collaboration with Converse (PRODUCT) RED. Utilizing a less often seen model in the Jack Purcell High, the sneaker’s upper features two-tone leather and nubuck materials.

For this latest collaboration, CLOT created a high top version of the Jack Purcell shoe. “The Jack Purcell shoe is kind of unassuming, sort of the underdog… I really like the style, and the front of the shoe really captivates me. When I started thinking about a collaboration with Converse this was the shoe that I wanted to work with,” says Kevin Poon, founder of CLOT.

Using rich nubuck leather and premium materials and construction, CLOT’s creation is a very comfortable and elegant version of the Jack Purcell shoe. Kevin also adds that an element of muted red was also added to “embody the CLOT movement, and to subtly reference the mission (RED)”

“The shoe is really inspired by our ”from dusk till dawn collection. We wanted to use a color palette that embodied this emotion – subtle, mostly grey, and all together the colors bring out this high top Jack Purcell’s unique silhouette,” says Poon.

To celebrate our first collaboration launching on 1st April, 2010, CLOT and Converse have invited DJ Jules, the renowned England DJ who has deejayed at different occasions including opening act for artists such as Maxwell and Sade and parties for fashion labels such as Versace and business magnate Martha Stewart.

TO x Paladin for Cueve “Tolvis” Boots

Japanese brands TO and Paladin team up to develop a pair of “Tolvis” boots for retailer Cueve. The boots take on classic brogue style detailing with suede construction. Black and grey are the primary colors while a splash of tan and burgundy accenting adds a nice complimentary touch to the overall design. This new release is now available through Cueve’s online store.

Nike Air Royal Mid VT

Following the Macaron Air Royals, Nike has released a set of similarly monochromatic Air Royal Mid VTs. Constructed of a PU-like material, the upper takes on a 3D appearance, almost resembling a toy. Available March 25th (at LTD anyways) in violet (pictured) or white.

Lanvin Cut Out Hi-Top Sneaker

Browns takes stock in a navy neoprene and brown leather hi-top sneaker from Lanvin’s SS’10 lineup. “Brown cut out leather detailing runs along the side of the foot with brown lace-ups. A burgundy colour trim sits around the top of the ankle on the neoprene. Flat white rubber sole. A navy leather tab sits at the back of the ankle to pull on the shoe.” Standard pricing applies.

Jeremy Scott x adidas Originals JS Mickey Hi

First seen on the runway nearly a year ago, the Jeremy Scott x adidas Originals Mickey Mouse sneakers have landed in stores. Taking his over-the-top, over-sized tongue obsession to the next level, designer Jeremy Scott throws Mickey Mouse’s head into the mix over a fairly traditional red, yellow and white leather basketball silo.

Converse Japan January 2010 Footwear – Trio CC, Marine Sea Hi, All Star Chukk Mid

Some interesting new releases are coming from the Converse Japan Spring 2010 Collection. From their new Dresscode 1/2 Collection, the brand presents the Trio CC and the All Star Chukk Mid. The Trio CC is a canvas version of a classic slip-on shoe and the All Star Chukk Mid, is a mid version of the Chuck Taylor, inspired by the Chukka boot. The Marine Sea Hi is a high version of the Converse boat shoe and it comes with a polka dot lining in three colorways.

adidas Originals Highrise Sneakers.

The full grain, leather upper is contrasted with a snake emboss on the ankle collar and around the toe-box and eye-stays while the forefoot and heel straps carry through the urban feel of the model. With the 3-Stripes perforated and subtle branding aside from the over-sized Trefoil on the tongue, the adidas Highrise is destined to become another understated classic.
