Neighborhood x Disney – Big Bad Wolf and Mickey VCD Set

Japanese apparel brand Neighborhood has teamed up with Disney and Medicom to produce a very nice VCD set – featuring the Big Bad Wolf (9.6”) and Mickey Mouse (6.5”). Set up in seemingly innocent poses (one is, one isn’t…), these carry the Disney charm. Produced in very limited quantities, these are available in both a color and grayscale edition. Recently released, these are definitely worth a look and are available Union and other select retailers.

Jellio

Design firm Jellio, makers of the oversized, rubber gummy bear lights and giant Revell model kits as wall art has added three new pieces to their repertoire of home furnishings made in the image of giant candies and toys.

The Ice Cream Bench is just that: a giant ice cream sandwich you can sit on, made from solid foam, canvas, and white velvet. In the Music Table, an oversized toy xylophone doubles as a tabletop, and we're told that it really works.

Also, keep a lookout for The Candelier, to be unveiled this January: it's a three foot wide lighting fixture made form 2,000 fake, acrylic gummi bears. Each one takes a month to build, and will be sold in an edition of ten.

The full grain, leather upper is contrasted with a snake emboss on the ankle collar and around the toe-box and eye-stays while the forefoot and heel straps carry through the urban feel of the model. With the 3-Stripes perforated and subtle branding aside from the over-sized Trefoil on the tongue, the adidas Highrise is destined to become another understated classic. It looks to drop in January 2010, at all adidas Originals stores and select retailers.

Marlo Pascual

artist's statement:

"I’m creating a relationship between the artwork, the art space, and the viewer by employing visual and audible devices. In recent sculptures I’ve juxtaposed found photographs and objects with various light sources to create a mise-en-scene for them to play out in. The unknown actors and actress in the images are recast into new roles, with theatrical light sources such as candlelight, fluorescents, and color gels providing dramatic tension. The sculptures become a site of convergence between past and present, fiction and reality, and drama and banality; where the subjects play out ambiguous narratives with psychological and melancholic resonances."

Graffiti tagger sentenced to 8 years in prison

Be careful what canvas you choose. $7,500 worth of damages from graffiti now equals 8 years in prison without a chance for parole.

I'm all for a fair and just punishment, but this is nuts. Who did he kill?

Must watch!

Incubot – Nekobots Designer USB

Incubot, helmed by ToyboxDX’s Alan Yen, is coming out of the gates fast with a lineup that mixes retro Japanese themes with designer flavor. First up – their Nekobots, Japanese Robot designer USB drives.

These are great – and feel more like toys than previous designer usb offerings. They have articulation (head and arms) and a light-up chest plate. They separate at the waist for easy access to their 2 GB brains. The look is just right right down to the old school packaging. Grab the Nekobot leader, Blue 28 ($29.99, below ), or the special Neko “G” 3-pack ($89.99, above) limited to just 30 sets. The black ‘Inle’ Stealth has already sold out, and it’s easy to see why.
