New York-based artist Ryan McGinness created a three-part showing for his exhibition in Madrid titled Studio Franchise. With La Casa Encendida playing host, the parts included a replication of his New York studio, a second gallery with works in progress and finally a third space which included finish paintings. To accompany the exhibition is a book done with design studio Base called the “Studio Manual” which brings together the commercial approach to re-creating Ryan McGinness. The whole exhibition’s over encompassing theme “… is a logical extension of Warhol’s factory sarcasm, the Koons/Murakami/Hirst factory sincerity, and the artist-as-brand reality of today.” The exhibition will conclude on April 4th, 2010.
