Fujifilm said today it has launched a digital camera that can take 3-D videos and photos. You can view these images without special 3-D glasses.
Jen-Hsun Huang, chief executive of graphics chip maker Nvidia, announced the development and showed off the camera at his company’s GPU Technology conference in San Jose, Calif.
The Fujifilm FinePix REAL 3D W1 camera will be introduced in the U.S. soon and it has already been introduced in overseas markets. The camera can capture images in 3-D and videos. The system has a 3-D camera and a 3-D image viewing system. The camera has two Fujinon lenses that layer together two images which can be viewed in 3-D. The camera also has two image sensors. The display on the camera allows users to see natural 3-D images with the naked eye. All you have to do is point the camera and press the shutter button to take the 3-D pictures and movies.
Users can adjust the camera and edit the 3-D images so that the 3-D effect is appropriate for the picture. The camera can also take conventional two-dimensional images. You can transfer images to a computer and view them on any display. Fujifilm has also figured out a way to print the 3-D images via Fujifilm’s SeeHere.com photo-printing site. The camera sells for $599.95 and the viewer costss $499.95. Prints will be available for $6.99 and take 15 days for delivery.
