bugworld - an interactive vermin installation
bugworld is an interactive installation that lets people play god. More precisely, they become the god of a world inhabited by bugs. Through a very simple interface, the user could influence parameters such as speed, interest or field of vision. Each bug has a set of »genes« which it passes on to its children. Those genes are conveyed visually through different sets of bodies and legs.
The installation has been shown at the exhibition »Für den Fall« in Vienna and Graz.

Munky King is proud to present the 2nd wave of our production of LA artist Thomas Han's PUSHERS.
The Animal Pusher is the fourth and rarest in a series of four mystical influencers: Spirit, Pirate, Monster, and Animal. The Animal has a unique mask and "face" with candy-colored pin-striping over a gradient magenta pearlescent base, reminiscent of Thomas's unique colors and fine line work.
LA artist Thomas Han’s original art work is noted for the extremely clean rendering achieved through screening techniques and electric pastel palettes combining primarily pinks and blues.

Bape August 2008 Footwear
Bape has once again released some new footwear. This month they came out with a nice brown leather/canvas Bapesta. Also the Roadsta comes in an array of new colorways, all inspired by the most recognizable Bape camouflage patterns that came out over the years.

Jobs: $30 Million App Store Sales in First Month
In an interview with Steve Jobs, The Wall Street Journal reports that the iTunes App Store has delivered over 60 million programs to customers over the course of the first month. While most of those applications were free, Jobs does reveal that Apple has sold an average of $1 million a day in applications for a total of $30 million in sales over the first month. Jobs says he's "never seen anything like this in my career for software."
Some of the big winners amongst the sales include Sega's Super Monkey Ball [App Store] which saw over 300,000 downloads in the first 20 days. This represents over $2 million in net revenue for this $9.99 game alone. Meanwhile, the popular medical reference Epocrates [App Store] has seen over 125,000 downloads during its short time in the App Store. This compares quite favorably to Epocrates previously installed base of 500,000 other mobile users.
Also addressed is the recent discussion surrounding application removals. An Apple spokesperson described the pulling of the I am Rich application as a "judgement call".
Finally, Jobs confirms the ability to remotely disable an application:
"Hopefully we never have to pull that lever, but we would be irresponsible not to have a lever like that to pull"

In September, one of the worlds highest-paid living artist, Jeff Koons, will invade the Palace of Versaille and (controversially) install up some of his best-known works around the chateau and gardens. The 52-year-old artist will exhibit 12 to 15 of his works, including Hanging Heart (Magenta/Gold), which sold in 2007 for $23.7 million, his highly recognizable Balloon Dog (Magenta), and his 1986 chrome steel Rabbit. Versaille’s President Jean-Jacques Aillagon, who previously managed the Palazzo Grassi, Pinault’s contemporary-art museum in Venice, has announced that the show will go from September 10 until December 14.

Gary Hume, ‘Door Paintings’ @ Modern Art Oxford, UK, through Aug 31
Hume, Four Doors I, (1989-90)
Almost two decades after Gary Hume emerged onto the British art scene with his famous “Door Paintings”, the Modern Art Oxford will present the first survey of his work. The exhibition will go through August 31 and was curated by Suzanne Cotter. The first of his “Door Paintings” was inspired by an ad for a British private health insurance company, which featured an image of waiting in a dismal hospital waiting area. Since then, the style of his doors have evolved and the series has provided Hume with great success. His works are large scale, monochrome, painted with household gloss paint.

Suckadelic Bootlegs
Suckadelic has a trio of new bootleg releases. First up is the next installment of the Self-Bootlegging Vinyl Enterprise. As a nod to one of Suckadelic's most popular bootlegs, they'll be releasing Gay Empire: Sucklord 669. This hand-painted piece is limited to 50 pieces. It's numbered, repackaged and only 25 are available for $75 each. Secondly, the retro-style bootleg Afrodisiac: Scorpio. This Day-Glo Blacklight Series figure is limited to 50 pieces. Only 25 are being made available and will run $35 each. Finally, Suckadelic is releasing their newest Suckpeg. The Necromancer Suckpeg revives the Sucklord's nemesis in a limited run of 40 pieces (although only 20 will be made available) for $30 each.

Urban Art Auction At Phillips de Pury September 6
On September 6, Phillips de Pury will present a sale of some of the biggest names in the growing Street Art movement at their Saturdays @ Phillips sale. The preview will run from September 2 to 6. Among those presented at the sale are Kaws, Shepard Fairey and Invader. Phillips de Pury is located at Horwick Place, London, SW1P. A similar sale comes to the New York sale room in October.
